Warping and Dressing the Early Hand Loom
as Taught at the Marshfield School of Weaving by Kate Smith & Justin Squizzero

When Norman started the school in 1974 he brought with him the expertise and techniques that he had gleaned from watching the last of the rural handweavers in Scotland.  He continued to share this way of warping and dressing a loom with all of his students and the next generation of teachers.  His method has finally been recorded into this little manual in the hopes that Norman's legacy will continue to be passed on from one weaver to the next.  These techniques are uniquely suited to the 4 post barn frame loom but can also be used on any contemporary loom as well.

MADE BY STUDENTS

For many years the students at MSW have been weaving dishtowels as part of their  learning experience and to sell at our annual Holiday Sale.  Since we are not able to host events where large numbers of people may gather we have decided to try this new approach of selling online.  Please bear with us as we perfect this process and we will continually be adding new stock in the new year.  Thank you for your support and your patience.
